How do I send the photographs?

You may send the photographs one of two ways - by mail or by e-mail.

By Mail - Mail to P.O. Box 147, Flanders, NJ 07836.  Make sure you write on the envelope "Photographs do not bend".  Do not send in negatives or slides.

By E-Mail -  If 35 mm, please scan in at the highest resolution possible - 600 dpi should do the trick.  If digital, please save in the highest resolution possible.  E-mail as a separate .jpg or .tif file attachment to email@miraclemunchkins.com AFTER placing your order and receiving your order #.  Do not paste into your e-mail but attach to it.  You won't be asked to upload your photo, you just email it.  Photos should be at least 100k in size.  Please send unedited. We'll do that here.  Do not use a file sharing program such as Kodak Easy Share to email as they reduce the file size too much to get a good print. Use your regular email program and attach a .jpg image

How should I position my baby?

For the whimsical photo announcements and party invitations, your baby should be sitting up and photographed from head to toe. For driver's license announcements, photos sitting up work best as well.  You can place your child in a bouncy seat or propped up against the couch with a blanket as the background.  For keepsake babies announcements, many positions work - lying down, sitting up etc.  For sibling photo announcements, try and have the sibling hold the baby or the siblings side by side.

Will our photographs be returned to us?

Yes, all mailed photos will be returned in their original condition.  Photos are returned separately from the order.

How many photographs should I send?

We recommend you send several of your favorite photographs and we will use the one best suited to the design you have chosen. If mailing in, please indicate on the back of your photograph your child’s full name.  If you have a favorite, please indicate this on the back of the photograph and we usually can accommodate your request.  If emailing your photo, just write in the email which photo is your favorite.

Do you accept pictures from professional photographers?

Yes, you must include written permission from the photographer allowing us to reproduce the image. Most photographers will grant you permission if they do not offer you a product similar to ours. This written permission is called a copyright release.  This a requirement of Federal and State law and will be required by anybody who is asked to reproduce a professional photograph.

What photos work best / photo tips?

The best pictures are taken in sunlight or in natural light rooms.  Bright and sharp focus photos work best.  For whimsical announcements, take a picture of your baby in front of a contrasting background.  For example, if your baby is wearing pink, use a darker background.  This allows us to be able to capture your baby's image accurately.   Please do not send Polaroids or negatives.  We can fix red-eye

The trick is to get close but not too close.  You'll want to make sure that all of the baby's head is included and the top is not missing. It's not as noticeable in a photo but very noticeable in a birth announcement.

Try different angles.  Sleeping baby photos can be very precious.

Can I use a digital photograph?

We do accept digital photographs.  Please make sure you have used the highest resolution possible and try to send in several images.  Digital photos may print grainy if the resolution is not high enough.  Please don't crop.  Photos should be at least 100 k in size.

Can I e-mail you my photo?

Absolutely!  Please make sure you have used the highest resolution possible to scan in the photo (a minimum of 600 dpi and at least 100 K in size).  Please e-mail to info@miraclemunchkins.com  Try to send several images and indicate your child's name and which photo is your favorite.  Save in either .jpg or .tif format.  The photo must be attached as a separate file and not inserted or pasted in the e-mail. Photos that are pasted in the e-mail often have poor quality because they are compressed during the email process.  When they are saved as a separate file, they maintain their quality.
